The truth is there will never be a time when you feel completely confident to leap into solo travel/backpacking. Even now, I always get scared to take off, but it’s not about being fearless. In fact, I use my fear as fuel constantly. I use the fear of missing out on the world as motivation. That plus one foot in front of the other (+ a plane ticket) = courage.

As a first-generation American from Indiana— I never thought this would be my life. I come from a tiny town of less than 3,000 people, yet today I celebrate having explored 30 countries by age 27! Something that gives me chills to say…
